Leatherwork by the sea is the perfect combination for us, so here at Diamond Awl, we were very happy to be asked to bring our taster workshops to Vintage by the Sea in Morecambe at the beginning of this month. The calmness of the bay was a truly wonderful view to start the day.
As you would expect, vintage style was everywhere and it was really inspiring to see people dressed for the weekend, not to forget the pretty nice vintage cars outside the Midland Hotel. We also loved the Vintage Mobile Cinema.
Our workshops offered the chance to learn traditional saddle stitch and edge finishing, with the choice between a card holder or a coin purse, all in high quality veg tan leather with the option to customise with thread colour and embossing initials, all in one hour.
Whenever we do events, we are always overwhelmed by the appetite to learn traditional leatherwork and this was no exception. We particularly enjoyed seeing our younger students enjoying learning traditional stitching.
It was also really nice to see Wayne Hemingway, who came over to see us on the Sunday. What a great event, we loved every minute of it and hope it has inspired those who dropped by to see us to take up a new skill.
