We’ve had a great month here at Diamond Awl Leather Workshop on our two day leather bag making course, with some new variations on the tote and messenger bag. We’re calling this the Postal Bag. It’s a great everyday style and students worked with a nice tan waxy leather. It’s a robust shape, with a flat gusset on the base, shoulder length double stitched strap, finished with a simple Sam Brown fixing.
The ‘Bucket Tote’ is a slightly longer style tote bag. This one was made using heavy belt leather for the handles, hand cut with the strap cutter, finished with copper rivets and featuring an inside pocket and keyring. Slightly different technique with this one as it’s stitched on the inside, which makes for a clean minimal look.
Mother and daughter duo chose our new Saddle Bag, a small/medium sized handbag, with strap length to suit individual style.
Great achievements by the students – all bags are hand made from start to finish, starting with cutting from a hide and learning traditional leather techniques. Students can choose thread colour and wherever possible we try and accommodate a bit of customisation along the way. To join us for future two day leather bag making courses click here.
